Sonya Devereaux is having a party with her friends Linnea Quigley, Brinke Stevens, Tiffany Shepis and Michelle Bauer. Fred Ray Olen comes along dressed in a pink bunny suit. They are watching the movie they were all in together called Scream Queen Summer Camp Massacre. The movie starts with Sonya driving to Camp Hackaway for a convention. Camp Hackaway is the real-life camp where Ragface killed people for decades and inspired all the horror slasher films. The other girls hid in her yellow VW bug to scare her.

At the camp they meet the director Frank Orson Reed who directs and produces hundreds of films. Anyway, the girls have to get cleaned up and there is only one shower to share. While in the shower some guys steal their clothes, so they have to be naked. The girls instead find young children’s uniforms to put on which are a little tight. The convention begins with Frank introducing the girls with a display of all the knives used in his films. They spring together and kill him. Looks like Ragface has escaped and is on his killing spree again. A sheriff comes to tell them a mudslide blocked the road and knocked out the cell towers. He is killed while inspecting the knifes which were poisoned.

The girls can’t get along because they hate each other but decide to continue their roles as camp counselors for the guests to keep everyone calm. They start off a canoe race that has one of the canoes boobytrapped. They then think that the actress Janie Lynn Burgess is the killer when they find her removing bandages from her face. Only she just had plastic surgery and after being locked in her cabin, it is a trap that kills her.

Some guys come along and invite the girls to make out. Sonya is the odd one out and goes to a shed to build something to fight Ragface. The girls and guys are ambushed by Ragface. He kills the guys with a chainsaw he built out of legos. Then he stalks the other girls. Sonya builds a mechanical exoskeleton and captures Ragface. Only Ragface brings her to where he has all the other girls. He rescued them and tells his story. That he was a bully and sent to camp as punishment. An accident at the nearby turkey slaughterhouse mutilates his face. In anger he starts killing people. Later in prison he watched the slasher movies he inspired and develops sympathy for his victims. He gets his degree in hotel management and buys Camp Hackaway. The real killer is revealed to be the producer/director Frank Orson Reed. He did it to save his career for nobody would watch slasher films if Ragface was a good guy. It is also then revealed that it was all a movie he was filming, and everyone was actors. He also can’t pay the girls and they chase after him. Cuts to the apartment where Fred Ray Olen and another guy visitor fell asleep and are awakened by the girls in scary makeup.

I loved this series. This one was obviously a parody of the horror/slasher films. It has real life people as guest stars which gives it some real-life charm. We get the typical tropes of these films. Beautiful women in tight fitting clothes and some gratuitous shower scenes. Plenty of kooky booby traps and stereotypical scenes. This series lovingly pokes fun at beloved B-movies that we all grew up on. The next one advertised is Alien Queen’s Revenge which looks like a Star Trek ripoff. Can’t wait.

STARRING SONYA DEVEREAUX #1 WARRIOR WOMAN DEATH TEAM 5

“Warrior Woman Death Team 5”

Sonya Deveraux is attending Wonderfest and meets one of the geeks looking at Kaiju models. She recommends that he check out her latest movie Warrior Woman Death Team 5 on Webflix. So he orders it on his phone. The movie starts with Lord Tombstroke attacking a castle and slaughtering everyone. He is after the Merlin Scrolls but Princess Harlotta has escaped and she has them. We then find Eena dreaming of her past life as a warrior. She is now a farmstress and married to her third husband. The other two died at the alter and this one actually survived a whole year. Eena finds Princess Harlotta hiding in the barn from Tombstroke. Eena’s husband arrives and thinks that his anniversary gift is a threesome with Eena and Harlotta. Unfortunately for him he is killed by Tombstroke’s men. Eena triggers the spikes buried outside and kills all the attacking knights. Only she is hit on the head and wakes to find Harlotta gone.

So she gets her sexy warrior woman clothes and goes to reassemble her Death Team 5. The first is the cleric Gwyndovere of the huge bossoms who also lives in the village. The second is the black one named Drusundra who is pretending to be a strong man in a carnival. The third is the Asian who is working as a seamstress and the final one is Sky the Hispanic looking sorceress. The save Tombstroke’s jester from ogres who were about to eat him. He helps them infiltrate the castle disguised as a cleaning service for dungeons. They have to fight Tombstroke’s right hand man Romero twice. The second time he is brought back as an undead zombie. Eena manages to kill Tombstroke and is betrayed by Harlotta. Seems Harlotta is her younger sister and Eena is the rightful queen. Eena throws a stick and knocks her out. She becomes Queen Meena which is her full name and makes the jester her king. The jester is excited until he finds out all her past husbands die a gruesome death.

This issue we get a spoof of the Sword and Sorcery genre. A squad of tough women that check all the diversity boxes and run by the white blonde woman. Yup that is the film industries idea of diversity. There is plenty of intersectional gobbledygook dialogue and sticking it to the patriarchy. Hot women warriors and implied lesbianism. Corny gags and over the top characters to make this seem like some hilarious modern day S&S film. The writers of this character do such an excellent job of putting every cliche in their stories. The next one is Scream Queen Summer Camp Massacre and I would assume it is a slasher parody. I love this series.

STARRING SONYA DEVEREAUX #1 VIOLET VIXEN

“Violet Vixen The Sage Continues…”

Sonya and her pal Jessica are reading for a part in the break room of a vape shop. Jessica wants to read for a female part and the producers suggest the part of Sonya’s mother. Jess doesn’t think that a 25 year old can play the mother of a 26 year old and storms out angry. Sonya invites her to a sports bar for lunch while they wait for another audition. While there Sonya shows her the new Violet Vixen movie.

So we are introduced to Persephone Winkle who is an online vegan chef. She bakes carrots and stuff. One day she was gathering ingredients and a UFO kidnapped her. The aliens put her in a field of flowers. Since Peri was hungry she ate all the flowers. This saved the alien civilization as these flowers were poisonous to them. These flowers gave Peri the ability to control ultraviolet light. The aliens gave her powers to change into Violet Vixen to fight crime.

So to the present and Violet Vixen is at a rally in Midtown to welcome the new super heroin Madame Midnight. She can control darkness and soon after she arrives Panda Trash Man who is dressed as a racoon(?) comes to spoil the event. Madame Midnight uses her powers to make everything dark and shoot Panda Trash Man in the forehead. Violet Vixen thinks that’s not very superheroy to kill your villains but it goes over well with the masses.

So the two superheroines go to Vixen’s apartment and Madame Midnight tells of her origin. She was a stripper named Candy Noxx whose real name was Cherry. She had a sugar daddy named Daddy Sugar. One day on her birthday this Daddy was taking her on his private spaceship to the moon. Neutron Gamma Pulses bombarded this ship and put Daddy Sugar in a coma. It also gave Candy her powers of controlling darkness.

So the two get a notification of a bank robbery. They hop on the Violet Vespa which is a moped. They confront The Questioner who only talks in questions and his gang The Punctuation Pack. Madame Midnight accidentally hits a switch on the moped that launches a missile killing the villains. Yet later Vixen hears a news report that someone stole all the money in the bank from the hole blasted in the wall and blame Vixen because she didn’t properly secure the money. The mayor in consultation with world leaders forbids Vixen to be a superhero and Madame Midnight is the new city’s champion.

Only Madame Midnight is a villain and robs a diamond factory. We find out that Vixen is afraid of the dark. That as a young girl she was playing with her giant spikes and during a blackout her parents fell down the stairs and impaled themselves. Yet she manages to overcome her fears and confront Midnight. She used her powers to heal Daddy Sugar but when he hears medical expenses made him broke and Vixen is standing in the way he wants Vixen killed. Both girls powers cancel each other out so they rely on a good old fashion catfight. The day is saved when the aliens come in an RV stolen after probing the campers. They capture Midnight and her Daddy in a forcefield so they can be arrested and sent to a prison that everyone always escapes from. At the end Violet finds out her boyfriend is Captain Attraction and they go on to have adventures in the next Vengeancers movie. This pissed off Jessica who storm out of the sports bar.

Yes another installment of Sonya Devereaux. This time is skewers the superhero movie. This is just downright funny. Violet Vixen is just over the top dumb blonde who bakes vegetables for a living and has to always go out for tacos as an excuse to her boyfriend. Who is revealed to also be a superhero. The main villain is an alcoholic /stripper. The next story is coming called Warrior Woman Death Team 5 which takes a shot at the sword and sorcery genre. I really hope they continue writing these.

STARRING SONYA DEVEREAUX #1 SPIDER-SHARK VS. SNAKE-BEAR

“Spider-Shark vs. Snake-Bear”

Ivonna Cadaver the host of a cable TV show called Macabre Theater has a special guest. Sonya Devereaux is there to promote her new movie Spider-Shark vs. Snake-Bear. Seems both monsters have a series of popular movies so the producers decided to bring them together. The movie starts with Sonja who plays Sgt. Haley Lord relaxing in a bikini with a martini at the Maximum Security Government Psychiatric Ward. Only events happening in Africa will get the CIA to recruit her to lead a covert operation.

She finds herself back in Africa where she lost her last team to a giant Spider-Shark. Naturally they tossed her in the loony bin because of this claim. Only the team soon finds out it is true. The group slowly gets picked off after a member says a cliched thing that foreshadows their death. Sonya is the only survivor and finds Dr. Erin Flannigan the archeologist who she is supposed to rescue. Only Flannigan has been captured by the evil archeologist Valentina Popovich. Only Valentina is not really evil but just looks it because the Russians force her to wear black. What follows is a lesbian threesome before the group is attacked by Snake-Bear. A giant bowl of honey slows it down for them to escape.

So the three build a trap for both creatures. After this Colonel Trey and is twin double Miska the Russian guy in charge arrive. Both are in cahoots to capture the creatures and take over the world. The creatures come and fall into the pit. Only instead of fighting they make love. Colonel Trey and Miska are destroyed and revealed to be robots. Sonya manages to set off some grenades and blow the two to pieces. They leave but at the end eggs hatch releasing baby spidersharksnakebears. Sonya reveals to Ivanna that will be the next movie.

I am so happy to see Sonya return. I just love these goofy send ups of B-movies. This one of course is the Asylum proliferation of kooky monster movies that they used to show on Saturday nights. I miss those. The whole movie is just chock full of gratuitous cliches, gratuitous plot holes, gratuitous puns and bad dialogue. Not to mention gratuitous lesbian sex, and gratuitous cleavage and gratuitous evil robots.

An interesting sidebar is it actually starred real people. Ivonna Cadaver is the host of a cable TV horror show called Macabre Theater. It also starred Magda Apanowitz, Damion Poitier and Caroline Pierce real actors and actresses in real life. (I looked them up on the internet.) So the next advertised movie is Violet Vixen a superhero movie. I hope to see many more issues of Sonya and her movies.

STARRING SONYA DEVEREAUX #1 DEBUTANTE DESPERADO

“Debutante Desperado”

Sonya is at a showing of her new movie Debutante Desperados a western. She wonders where her co-star is and the movie starts. Several young girls from Philadelphia are on spring break in Nevada 1871. Prudence Conway Wellington is studying to be a school marm. She stops the stagecoach to go to the outhouse and pick some flowers. While away some cowboys shoot the driver and take the girls to jail because they were trespassing on Conrad Irving’s land. Irving is the local oil, land, cattle and pie baron.

Constance is in the saloon to sell her dresses to raise money and is confronted by Irving. She decides to bust out the girls and with the help of the local cowhand, who literally has a cow hoof for a hand, blow a hole in the jail with dynamite. The girls escape and Constance stays to put an end to Irving’s rule. So she hides out in the local whorehouse. She teaches the girls some refinement in exchange for hiding but Irving finds out and blows up the whorehouse.

So with the madam Belle Dorado they go to take Irving’s huge mansion to replace the whorehouse. Luckily the men from the town join in to help because they really need a whorehouse. There is a big gunfight that Constance wins. At the end a party is thrown and the dead whores are alive because Belle Dorado can bring the dead back. She plans on bringing Irving back as a zombie whore. Only Sonya seems to get this ending. She leaves the theater to find her co-star who played Belle. She is at a party for a friend at the same place and doesn’t remember Sonya’s name but would like a copy of the movie on DVD.

“Tour the Creative Process with Sonya Devereaux”
An article that shows how the comics are written and drawn. Kind of an insightful look at how comics are created.

So this one was a western and just hilarious. I mean there are just loads of historical anachronisms and downright historical inaccuracies. Not to mention bad dialogue and an inane plot. Ends with an ending that makes no sense whatsoever. Once again my kind of movie.

So this is the last issue for now. At the end were three upcoming titles that were advertised and I hope they make. Spider-Shark Vs. Bear-Snake(although I think the Asylum beat them to it), Return of the 50 Foot Woman, and Senorita Assassin 3 Margarita-Kill. Sounds like some more winners.

STARRING SONYA DEVEREAUX #1 VAMPIRE ACADEMY 4

“Vampire Academy 4”

Shane Slasher who runs the blog scaredshitless.com has come to Sonya Devereaux’s apartment for an interview. They watch her just released movie Vampire Academy 4. In it she is Elsbeth who is a senior at Bathory Academy. This is a school run for young female vampires. She has her two besties Anela and Caroline. Their nemesis is Scarlett who is the head of Borga House Sorority. So the first class has been given to the famous vampire teacher Dr. Damien Filius. The first assignment is for the girls to seduce and kill someone.

So the three girls go to the local pizza joint and manage to get the attention of some jocks. Anela and Caroline have no problem with taking out their jocks. But Elsbeth gets the geeky but handsome Derek and falls in love with him. So they leave but can’t find Caroline. Caroline was captured by vampire hunter Jack Stone who just joined the police and his partner. They torture Caroline for the info on the location of the academy. Later Caroline escapes and makes it back to her friends. They decide to have a threeway lesbian in the bath. This delays the two vampire hunters since they had planted a tracking device in Caroline’s fangs but decide to watch a little longer first.

So Jack Stone and his partner spring the trap. They manage to kill the bitchy Scarlett and are going to win but Derek comes to the rescue. Seems he wasn’t getting a response for his five texts in one hour. His arrival distracts the hunters long enough for the girls the take out the hunters. The academy is safe and Elsbeth and Derek continue their relationship.

“Interview with Sonya Devereaux”

An interview with Sonya. We find out she doesn’t always get paid for her movies. The secret to her success is sleeping with the right people and that she would be a surgeon or Special Ops if not an actress.

So you know the vampires must not be able to manage their money that well. They can barely afford clothing for their students. This was just hilarious. Sonya is your typical dumb blonde. The interview was also hilarious. This series is just a great spoof of B-movies. Having the geeky blogger do an interview was a fun story device to really showcase Sonya’s moonbatery. Plus you get a hot lesbian scene so what more do you need in a comic book.

STARRING SONYA DEVEREAUX #1 NAKED ARE THE DAMNED 2

“Naked are the Damned 2”

Sonya Devereaux is at a convention signing pictures and showing the premier of her new movie “Naked are the Damned 2”. So Sonya plays Camille the scantily dressed young daughter to a farmer and his wife. Things aren’t going good for the family. The evil corporation SynerGenComm is after the family farm. They bought the bank that has the mortgage and raised the interest 20%. So Camille goes to the city to get a job to help out. She applies at a modeling agency for a janitor’s position and instead is given a modeling contract. She finds out later it is taking naked pictures. So she goes to the local voodoo priestess Madam LaRose for advice. She says take the job and charges her forty bucks.

So Camille makes friends with the other models and has pillow fights. She makes enough money to save the farm. The evil CEO Mr. Kane does not like that. So he uses drums that the Devil once owned to turn his employees into zombies. The zombies go and kill Camille’s parents. This angers her and she goes to Madam LaRose for help. She doesn’t get any magical help but LaRose does have crates full of automatic rifles. So the two kill zombies by the truckload. They find Mr. Kane at the farm and Camille chases him to a boat which has an explosive on it. Camille detonates it and later for some unexplained reason becomes the head of the corporation.

“Vampire Revolution 3 French Kiss of Death”

In this movie Sonya plays Simone the Empress of Vampires. She is betrayed by her lover Lord Xofer a warlock and imprisoned in the dungeon with other scantily clad vampires. Luckily they left some old assault rifles there which they use to escape. She hooks up with a young warlock to defeat Xofer. They find the king has been killed by Xofer and his body preserved to use as a figurehead. Well stuff happens. There is a shower scene with girsl making out. It ends with a helicopter chase and Simone killing Xofer with her poison coated tongue kiss. She is declared the Quempress of both vampires and warlocks.

So this series is a parody of really bad movies. You know the ones with paper thin plot, bad dialogue, unexplained endings, gratuitous sex and violence and all around incomprehensible plot. In other words fun movies. So Sonya is a B-actress like Linnea Quigly or Julie Strain who acts in hundreds of these direct to video wonders. I absolutely love this series. It has a tongue in cheek mood to it yet lovingly pays homage to these bad movies and the actresses that act in them. I mean these titles are something I would watch in an instant. This in one cool idea.
