“Enter the Eternal Ice-World of Box!”
Writer: David Kraft adapted from screenplay by David Zelag Goodman
Artists: George Perez and Klaus Janson
Logan and Jessica find themselves in a mysterious ice cavern of Box. Box a crazy robot starts to sculpt both Jessica and Logan in ice. They find that the runners that came before were frozen by the crazy Box. Seems it has a job to freeze food for the city. A fight ensues and thankfully unlike the other runners, Logan has a pistol. It damages Box’s sculptures and drives the robot to depression. It also collapses the ceiling on Box.
The two make their way to the surface and see the sun for the first time. They explore the forest and come on the ruins of a city. It is Washington D.C., and they see the Lincoln Memorial. Then they go to the Capital and find an old man. This man is a bit senile and has many cats but is friendly. They contemplate staying there when Francis shows and takes Jessica hostage.
This was another enjoyable part of the movie adaptation. My favorite part of the movie is when they discover Washington. Don’t get much on the history because the old guy they meet is off his rocker. Also the only thing different from the film was Box is shown to be a sculpture which is why he is so upset when his birds get destroyed. Personally, I see why they cut out the sculpting of Jessica and Logan. A bit unrealistic and over the top.
